BETAGRAPH'S HISTORY

Betagraph was born out of the desktop publishing revolution of the mid-1980s.

With traditional training and skills in design, graphic art production, publishing, and editorial work, desktop publishing not only added a new dimension to our capability, but was a logical next step as new technology entered the workplace.

Betagraph was a desktop publishing pioneer of sorts. Circa 1985, we were one of the very first businesses in the Rocky Mountain region to acquire and incorporate Macintosh-based desktop publishing technology into its operation. In fact, we were on waiting lists to receive the early production models of the Macintosh computer, Apple LaserWriter printer, and Aldus PageMaker software.

Since there was no training available, we taught ourselves and learned everything we could. And to keep abreast of this new emerging field, we attended industry events. Back then, you could actually talk with the developers, including the likes of Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, and Paul Brainard.

As the DTP phenomenon caught on, we provided consulting and training to new Mac and PC users. We helped several typesetting houses, printers, and publishers make the transition to the new technology that now forms the backbone of today's printing industry. We also wrote articles about desktop publishing and automation management for a number of publications.

And now, since the emergence of the Internet and web-based technology, we bring our creative and technical skills to another marketing communications and publishing medium. Equipped with both print and web know-how and expertise, we enable our clients to better tell their story and communicate with their customers.
